The Voices of Angels Shiraz is a unique expression of cooler climate Shiraz that has a long structured palate with soft, but evident tannins. Each year we keep a small number of barrels separate to produce a wine that illustrates the ability of the Shiraz grape to make a unique and diverse style.

Vintage 2010 has always been considered a special vintage right from the crushing of the last berry and the 2010 reds reflect this. Deeply coloured, with sweet but dark focused fruit aromatics, these wines have a rich, almost velvety mouthfeel and display fine defining tannins. Certainly an age worthy vintage for the cellar. The consistency of character runs fully across the whole range which is a hallmark of a classic vintage.

Rich and deep in colour. Its softly perfumed nose illustrates the characters that come from a cool climate fruit source, in this case a Shiraz block at Mt Pleasant near the Adelaide Hills. A gentler structure than its valley floor brethren, it balances our house style richness within a more nimble framework, retaining sweetness but holding back on ‘bigness’. A touch of stalky/whole bunch flavour adds another layer. A rich, deep but elegantly structured wine that will improve and mellow for at least a decade from release date.

This wine was fermented using 10% whole bunch fruit (stalks included) which combined with its cool climate origin gives a beautifully expressive floral bouquet. The wine is pressed prior to dryness into 100% new French (70%) and American (30%) Saury water-bent barriques for a 24 month maturation on lees, increasing the richness and vitality of this wine.
