“Dark in appearance with mulberries & blueberries plus unmistakable oregano. Powdery & mouth sapping tannins call for plates of bolognese & ragu. Yep, it’s made for eating.” QWine

90 POINTS “An earthen note to blackberry & plum is joined by charcuterie & cedar oak nuance on the nose. The palate has base notes of dark berry fruits & a creaminess of milk chocolate before drying tannins with a touch of bay leaf take hold; dark cherry lingers with a drying, savoury texture. Very good value.” The Wine Reviewer, Patrick Eckel

“… cherry red hues & forest floor aromas. Zingy mulberry flavour shows on the front palate, briar, plum, capers & subtle vanillin oak meld on the middle palate & the finish has gamey tannins.” Newcastle Herald, John Lewis

“It is deep reddish-purple in colour with aromas & flavours of red plums, boysenberries & oregano spices, balanced with good acidity & firm tannins.” Have a go News, Frank Smith

Montepulciano is part of our Mediterranean collection.
We started the planting in 2000 and now have 6 varieties with their origins in Italy or Spain. They are varieties well-suited to the growing conditions of McLaren Vale and deliver the more rounded flavours of the Southern European climate.
Great depth of colour comes first, then the aromas and flavours of red plums, boysenberries and oregano type spices, balanced with good acidity and firm tannins.
A true Italian suiting foods like Beef Bolognese, a platter of cheese and spicy sausage and of course the ultimate – pizza.
