92 POINTS, Ranked No.1 2018 Fiano ““Light yellow-straw colour with a shy, linen-like aroma, non-fruity and tight on the palate. It’s lean and taut and nervy, dry and almost austere. A hint of nectarine later. It’s very well-focused on the palate and has intensity and length. I liked this increasingly, the more I got to know it” Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93 POINTS, “The wine enjoys lovely texture with a fullness of stone fruits holding it’s own against layers of citrus fruit. There is a faint touch of marzipan and grapefruit that gives impact to finish with stone fruits at the fore to finish.” The Wine Reviewer, Jan 2019
91 POINTS, “Snow pea, green leaf aromatics, perhaps serving at fridge temperature not the greatest idea. Delicate white florals. Subtlety. The watchword. Something like a vanilla panna cotta aspect, almost creamy with perhaps a light stonefruit complexion. Decent textural width, a fine phenolic feel.” The Vinsomniac. July 2019
91 POINTS, “…I’d recommend this. Lemon juice, citrus rind in general, crushed fennel, maybe some brine. It has just a little bit of attitude, good attitude, with the crunch to complement.” The Winefront, Campbell Mattinson
Fiano is part of our Mediterranean collection.
We started the planting in 2000 and now have 6 varieties with their origins in Italy or Spain. They are varieties well-suited to the growing conditions of McLaren Vale and deliver the bright fruit flavours of the Southern European climate.
This is a bright, fresh wine combining the warmth of stone fruit with the zip of lemon zest or grapefruit. Herbs and hazelnut are also there to be found. When it comes to food, nothing could be better than pan fried wild barramundi as a partner.
